[06.04.2005]HEXUS has learned that we are close to seeing the first 'multi-threaded' benchmark available for consumers. This will enable consumers to see then performance of a threaded gaming environment. This demo/application, commissioned by Intel, will be called Mechanoids. It is based on a series of droids moving around the screen which stresses the system in different ways. This commission is a direct one and more than just Intel being a member of the BDP program. Craig Hart, the author of the program, also reports that the official development of PCI is now finished. It means that in future, all development work will take place only on PCI32 (and, soon, PCI64). No new development work or additional features will be done on 16-bit PCI. However, the author will continue to release updated versions of PCI from time to time, whenever a bug fix or relevant new feature appear in PCI32.
