ZD BWS BatteryMark 2004
OS: Win2k/XP  Order  Homepage Rating: 5/5
Business Winstone 2004 BatteryMark (BWS BatteryMark) measures battery life on notebook computers running Windows 2000 or Windows XP. This reinvention of BatteryMark is the most substantial change to the benchmark in several years, incorporating additions that make the test even more realistic than before. It measures a notebook computer's battery life and workload potential by exercising three different 32-bit software workload engines--one each for processor, disk, and graphics tasks. BatteryMark mixes these workloads together and adds periodic think times, or breaks, that reflect the way users pause while working.
You can also download the Business Winstone 2004 BatteryMark Version 1.0.1 update file (3.8Mb). Note: you'll need an existing copy of Business Winstone 2004 BatteryMark Version 1.0 to use the update file.

This benchmark is the "High Definition version" of the x264 Benchmark which has become a standard CPU benchmark for TechARP.com as well as many other hardware enthusiasts. It is a reproducible measure of how fast your machine can encode a short, HD-quality 720p24 video clip into a high quality x264 video file. It's nice because everyone running it will use the same video clip and software. The video encoder (x264.exe) reports a fairly accurate internal benchmark (in frames per second) for each pass of the video encode and it also uses multi-core processors very efficiently. Please, note: the benchmark requires AviSynth 2.5.8 to run.
